Talk on Trauma Recovery and the Nervous System

Join us on Tuesday, November 27th for a talk on Trauma Recovery and the Nervous system. We are honoured to host presenters who practice in the community blending yoga, bodywork, breathwork, and clinical training. Our presenters include research clinician Dr. Lynn Alden, clinician Leslie Wilkin and practitioner Edward Dangerfield.

The talk will run from 6 pm to 7:30 pm, with three presentations followed by a panel discussion.

Dr. Lynn Alden is a clinical professor and researcher who studies cognitive processes in the anxiety disorders; Social Anxiety Disorder; adult-onset Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, and cognitive-behavior therapy. Dr. Alden has published numerous papers on topics related to anxiety disorders, and she runs the Interpersonal Lab at UBC.

Leslie Wilkin is a social worker and yoga instructor who holds her Masters in Social Work and has been working for over ten years in the field of trauma, mental health, and addiction. She offers individual counselling to address concerns with mood, anxiety, addictions, relationships, life transitions and trauma. She uses somatic, mindfulness, feminist, attachment based and cognitive behavioural approaches.

Edward Dangerfield is a practitioner and healer who practices Intuitive Trauma Release. He is trained in nervous system health, breathwork, Qi Gong, and meditation among many other practices. He is engaged in ongoing study of physiology, neuroscience, and developmental patterns. In his talk, Edward will explore the connections between subconscious breath patterns, the nervous system, and the endcocrine system.

After the talk, at 7:30 pm, we host a social gathering with healthy food and non-alcoholic drinks.

We look forward to seeing you there!
