Dr. Lawrence Cheng is a functional medicine practitioner and emergency room physician who co-founded and directs the Connect Health Clinic for Integrative Medicine. In addition, he has a dedicated yoga practice and was instrumental in foundin gone of Vancouver's leading yoga studios. He has a strong interest in precision medicine, which is medicine down to the level of our genes, and combines this with dedicated curiousity as to the cutting edge of medicine, health, well-being, and longevity. During the retreat, he will lead a discussion around the latest scientific evidence around prevention and the root causes of illness (functional medicine) and the importance of mind-body medicine and how to integrate different modalities of healing (integrative medicine). Detailed recommendations for optimal health via nutrition, vitamins, supplements, exercise, sleep and mind-body practices, will be reviewed and discussed such that you can create your own personally-relevant wellness plan.
During the retreat, I am so excited and happy to share my ongoing love of shifting beliefs and helping you to understand your inner landscape - the reasons why you choose the things you choose, how you ultimately powerful transform your life and create optimal wellness, and the rich and varied emotional tapestry of existence that awaits you through starting to learn how emotions bring wealth into your life. We will discuss, from a wellness and yoga-informed perspective, how the mind and emotions work, how to use meditation to deepen understanding and shift mindset and mode, and how to conceptualize mood.
Mindfulness techniques will be taught for you to add to your personal wellness plan, guided meditations will lead you into a deep understanding of your heart's greatest desire and how to manifest this, and coaching tools for goal setting and structured change will be shared with you to use beyond the retreat. We'll explore yoga from a place of finding home, comfort, truth, clarity, and the magic of your most powerful and brilliant self. We'll stretch the fascia and discuss what it is to use movement to unwind from the stresses of the day or the week. Mood, food, nutrition, heart field, brainwaves, and brain wellness will be elements to learn from and add into your personalized wellness plan.
